Book Club is sponsored by Carol Stream Woman’s Club but includes members and non-members. We meet once a month at a member’s home and enjoy discussing the month’s selection as well as refreshments and social “girl-friend” time. We don’t meet on a specific day of the month but the hostess for that month sets the day and time and sends out information via email. The information is also posted on the Woman’s Club’s Facebook page.
We welcome new members – come try us out. For information, call 630-200-3944 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Book Club Notes
|Thanks to Kathy Timms for hosting the July 29th Book Club discussion on “Into The Water” by Paula Hawkins. We had a great turnout with 10 members and a guest, DeAnn, who found us through our web site. We are delighted she came and hope she will come back! It was generally agreed that half of us gave the books a thumbs down and half gave it a thumbs up but all agreed there were too many characters to keep straight and the writing style was rather confusing!
The August book club will be on Monday evening, August 26th, starting at 6 PM to allow time for dinner. The evening will be hosted by Barb Siegman at her home in Geneva. It will be our annual Potluck supper with Barb supplying drinks and a main course and everyone will bring a dish to pass (appetizers, side dishes, desserts). The book being discussed is “Still Life” by Louise Penny – the first book of a collection. Please make sure you RSVP on Meetup. We will be carpooling for the 30 minute drive to Barb’s home, so talk to your friends and group members and find a driver who will give you a ride. Thanks, Barb, for hosting us on your beautiful patio!
