Book Club

Book Club is sponsored by Carol Stream Woman’s Club but includes members and non-members. We meet once a month at a member’s home and enjoy discussing the month’s selection as well as refreshments and social “girl-friend” time. We don’t meet on a specific day of the month but the hostess for that month sets the day and time and sends out information via email. The information is also posted on the Woman’s Club’s Facebook page.

We welcome new members – come try us out. For information, call 630-200-3944 or email carolstreamwomansclub@gmail.com

November Book Club Notes

Thanks to Geri Laudick for hosting the October discussion group of “The Radium Girls” by Kate Moore on October 29th. Geri served her wonderful homemade apple pie and Beck brought yummy “green” cocktails. We had a great discussion involving googling several discussion topics, so everyone learned new things. General agreement was the book was good if a little technical in some areas. It was an eye opener and even more interesting that it happened right here in our part of Illinois.

Ellen Marchessault volunteered to host the November discussion which is our “featured favorite book”, Each person is to bring the following on a favorite book (or two) – Title, author and short summary and should be sent to Nancy Olson no later than the Wednesday before Thanksgiving (November 21st) so the list can be prepared and distributed. Each person will then present their book (or books) and talk about why they liked it. We will have a ready-made list of great books to read in the coming year!

Please RSVP in Meetup so she knows how many to expect. This is our LAST group meeting of 2018. As discussed, we will not be doing a holiday dinner this year. The January book is “Behind Closed Doors” by B. A. Paris.

We will be at Ellen’s home, please see details & RSVP at MeetUp
